BLUNDERS by Nalubaale FC goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi gifted Boroboro a precious victory in the Uganda Super League at Nakivubo yesterday.

Francis Olanya notched a brace as the Lira side returned home with a 3-0 win that lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Mugabi was penalised for wrestling down Boroboro striker Jacob Otunga in the early minutes of the game and Emmanuel Opio put the visitors in the lead from spot.

Olanya doubled the lead with a well executed free kick from the edge of the box after the break.

Just as Boroboro looked done and Nalubaale crestfallen, Mugabi delayed to clear a back pass and Olanya got there first to loop the ball into the net for the third goal in the final minute of the game.

The win pushes coach George Lutalo’s troubled Boroboro (30 points) to eleventh place on the table –– two off the drop zone above Iganga and Firemasters but below Nalubaale by one point.

At Namboole, Peter Ssennyonjo and Benson Ociti set off with two early goals as Police tamed visiting CRO 2-1.
Towering Ssenyonjo caught the CRO defence flatfooted when he powered home from the edge of the box to put the Cops ahead after just two minutes of play. Ociti followed with a second goal in the 21st minute.

Although Hassan Kange pulled back for CRO to ensure the half time result stood at 2-1, the visitors failed to challenge in the second half.

Simba kept their chase for the top five finish burning with a 2-1 victory over Hoima in the other game of the day.
