IT was a fun-filled evening as old students of Uganda Martyrs S.S Namugongo, (UMOSAN) converged at Arirang Restaurant for their annual reunion last Friday. Led by their patron, Buganda Road Court chief magistrate, Vincent Mugabo, the members began the evening with a performance of cultural dances by Kitara Group.
Rosh disco system left everyone, including the chief guest, Buganda minister of information, Charles Peter Mayiga, gliding on the dance floor.
That was after Rose Izizinga, the headmistress of Kitante Hill School, had delivered an address on “Networkingâ€.
“Develop contacts and use networks. Be generous with your resources. Have a plan and stick to it,†Izizinga advised.
She pointed out that people who stick to only old friends and contacts never break through because their network is limited.
Mayiga, a renowned city lawyer, launched the old students’ website; www.umosan.ac.ug , a music VCD for Austin Kiwummulo, and the lawyers association of Uganda Martyrs S.S Namugongo old students.
Mayiga urged the members to better their life and the communities around them. He urged them to avoid the “get-rich-quick syndrome†and be patient with the career growth path. “Life is full of opportunities but people don’t realise that. Grab the opportunity,†Mayiga counselled as the DJ played Mozey and Weasle’s hit ‘Opportunity’ for him to open the dance.
