THE National Agriculture Research Organisation’s (NARO) programmes for the next five years will cost $60m (over sh120b), the director general, Dr. Dennis Kyetere, has said.

“The Government is negotiating with development partners for financial support. The money will be used to carry out research in crops, livestock and fisheries and other services such as infrastructure and personnel development,” he said.

Kyetere said NARO and the National Agricultural Advisory Services will implement the project entitled ‘Agricultural Technology and Agro Business Advisory Services’.

He was last week commissioning the rehabilitated analytical laboratory at the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute in Jinja. Kyetere hailed the World Bank and the Government for funding the construction of the facility. He urged staff to utilise it properly.
