Ssimbwa promised 13m for CECAFA win

KENYAN champions Sofapaka FC have been promised Ksh500,000 (sh13m) by Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka if they win the regional club championship that kicks off in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday.

KENYAN champions Sofapaka FC have been promised Ksh500,000 (sh13m) by Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka if they win the regional club championship that kicks off in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday.

Musyoka said should the club, coached by Ugandan Sam Ssimbwa, clinch the trophy then he would give a donation of sh13m.

However, the VP said the team will receive sh6.5m should they reach the final of the event sponsored by Rwandan President Paul Kagame to the tune of $1m.

Kalonzo made the promise during a farewell party for the team that is owned by Congolese, Elly Kalekwa, at the Bomas of Kenya.

Sofapaka are in the same group with Ugandan champions URA, defending champions Atraco of Rwanda and Simba SC of Tanzania.
