SEED two Michael Kawooya sailed to the third round of the Bank of Uganda Open squash championships without sweating last evening.

The experienced player advanced after his opponent Richard Tinka withdrew from the Kampala club event at the eleventh hour.

“I am disappointed because I wanted to play my first game in the tournament,” a distraught Kawooya remarked.

The number five player Samuel Kyagulanyi had earlier secured an easy win over Julius Musimenta winning in straight sets 9-5 9-7 9-0.

Seed four Lawrence Matovu also moved ahead without much trouble.

He ended Frank Aliho’s campaign with a 9-1 9-3 9-1 victory.

The ladies will start their campaign today with top seed Kate Kabenge seeking back to back titles in the Bank of Uganda sponsored tournament.

There will also be action in the juniors category.
