SEVEN members in the Godfrey Nyakana-led faction of the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation executive committee have gone to the High Court seeking to block Rogers Ddungu from interfering with the local boxing federation affairs.

The group wants court to stop Ddungu, Ntege Ssengendo and David Kyambadde from presiding over the federation activities on grounds that they ceased being executive members in August last year.

Nyakana and his group want a court order restraining Dungu and his agents from involving themselves in matters relating to Uganda amateur boxing, including organising boxing tournaments.

Through Kabega, Bogezi and Bukenya Company Advocates, the group argued that the new executive committee was elected on August 29 last year, with Nyakana as the president.

The group claim, Ddungu and his former executive are engaged in plans of organising a national boxing competition and have been accessing public funds without authority.

Justice Vincent Zehukirize will preside over the case whose hearing date is yet to be fixed.
