A SOLDIER and 14 other men have been arrested over various offences including robbery, murder and impersonation in the last two months.

The Rapid Response Unit (RRU) also recovered five guns, several bullets and military uniforms from the suspects.

Pte. Vincent Okabale was arrested from Nakapiripirit for allegedly robbing a civilian of a motorcycle. Okabale was found with an AK47 rifle and 30 bullets.

The other 14 suspected criminals were paraded by the Police at a press briefing in Kampala, addressed by the Force’s spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba.

One of the suspects was accused of posing as a welfare officer in State House and obtaining money from people, claiming he could get their children scholarships and assistance.

The other suspects were accused of unlawfully possessing firearms and military uniforms, murder, aggravated robbery, theft and malicious damage of property.

Another suspect is being held for allegedly conspiring to kill a teacher of Kaberamaido Primary School in Kaberamaido district.

Nabakooba said some of those arrested are believed to be the hit-men who have been terrorising people in the city suburbs.

She said the suspects, who were found with guns, will face the Court Martial. The suspects were picked from Kampala, Wakiso and Kabale districts.
