THE Busiro East MP, Susan Nakawuki, has announced that she will vie for the Masaka municipality parliamentary seat during next year’s elections.

Nakawuki made the disclosure during prayers organised by Rubaga Miracle Centre pastor Robert Kayanja for Masaka district leaders.

The four-hour prayers were held on Sunday at Golf Lane Hotel, Masaka.
When incumbent MP John Baptist Kawanga (DP) took the floor after Nakawuki, he asked the people to vote for leaders with good morals.

“We need respectable and worthy leaders with proper reflection of exemplary manners in the community. Be aware of liars, who just want to exploit you,” he warned.

The Mengo youth minister, Mathias Mpuga, who also initially expressed interest in the Masaka MP race, asked leaders to help the youth get employment.

The district council chairman, Vincent Ssempijja, commended Kayanja for the session.

“This is a golden opportunity to meet and talk to my voters,” he added.

Ssempijja warned leaders who have not up-lifted the standards of their electorate, saying they will suffer during next year’s elections.

“I can show what I have done in the areas of health and infrastructural development, but I pity my colleagues who made empty premises,” he said.

The information, communication and technology state minister, Alintuma Nsambu, who is also the Bukoto East MP in Masaka, pledged to build a modern school worth sh1b in his village (Nkuke).
Nsambu also called for an anti-corruption fight.

“I have made clean money. Sometimes I feel like not working anymore, but we must fight leaders who have used their political offices to amass wealth.”

Kayanja, who was flanked by his wife, Jessica, advised the people to utilise the prevailing peace to increase their incomes.

He advised the leaders to support the development of industries in the area.
Kayanja promised to attract investors to Masaka and Kalangala districts.
