ASSAF Natan recovered from a collision with Maxim Van Pee in the first heat to sweep the second and third heats to win the fifth round of the Mountain Dew Motocross Championship at the Shell Garuga track on Sunday.

Douglas Mazune reports that Natan was in hot pursuit of Maxim when they clashed and stumbled, allowing Arthur Blick on an inferior Honda CR 250 model 1994, to take the lead and win the heat.

Blick, whose Yamaha 450cc had an engine knock last week, borrowed the bike from Paul Mutesasira.

Unissan Bakunda, Barak Orland and Jack Evans were third, fourth and fifth respectively in the open class race.

“It was tough competing on an old motorcycle but it did a good job. I am glad I got some points and stayed in firm contention for the national championship,” Blick remarked.

National title holder Blick, who finished second, remains top in the championship with 348 points, 16 clear of Natan.
