Jinja vocational school expands

THE Government has allocated sh2.6b for the renovation and expansion of Jinja Vocational Training Institute, the education minister, Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire, has said.

THE Government has allocated sh2.6b for the renovation and expansion of Jinja Vocational Training Institute, the education minister, Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire, has said.

In a speech read by the assistant commissioner for business technical vocational education and training, Ilahi Mansoor, the minister said the expansion will involve construction of a new girls’ dormitory, expansion of the information communication technology workshop as well as renovation of all buildings at the institute.

Mansoor last Friday represented the minister at the first graduation ceremony of the institute. Over 786 students graduated in electrical installation, motor vehicle mechanics, welding and metal fabrication, brick laying, plumbing and carpentry.

Bitamazire said the Government would set up 14 more vocational institutes with funding from the Arabian Bank, OPEC and Korea.
