THE Rugby Cranes received a clue of what they expect from Zimbabwe in the Tri-Nations Victoria Cup tie tomorrow after the visitors’ manager punched a Ugandan official on arrival.

Team manager Nody Kanyangarara punched Chris Lubanga whom the local rugby union had assigned the role of Zimbabwe team liaison officer. The incident took place at the team’s Noble Hotel in Ntinda

Kanyangarara had accused Lubanga of delaying his team to reach the hotel, suspecting that it was a ploy to frustrate them before tomorrow’s encounter.

Lubanga reported the incident to the Uganda Rugby Union before proceeding to Police to press charges of assault against Kanyangarara.

“I went out of the bus to ask for the entrance to the hotel. But when I was getting directions from the security guard this man came and asked me why I was delaying them and then punched me,” Lubanga narrated spotting a swollen cheek.

The visitors refused to enter the hotel demanding for a three-star hotel that the local rugby union turned down.

“It’s unfortunate they beat our official and I can’t give them another. I’m officially going to inform the Zimbabwean rugby union about the conduct of their manager,” a bitter local rugby union manager William Blick stated.

Blick said Ugandan teams have always been accommodated in students’ hostels while in Zimbabwe.
