A FAMILY of four was on Wednesday morning burnt to death in a suspected land wrangle at Lira-Palwo sub-county in Pader district.

The acting Pader District Police Commander, Benson Okoda, identified the deceased as Joseph Ocen, 50, Silvia Akello, 35 and their sons Walter Lubangakene, 6 and Samuel Odongo, 4.

He said the incident happened at Oting-Kili village in Agengo parish.
The Pader Resident District Commissioner, Santo Lapolo, attributed the incident to a land wrangle between Ocen and his brothers.

Lapolo advised residents to report any threats to the Police so that preventive measures can be taken.

He also cautioned politicians to keep away from land wrangles and allow the land committees in the sub-counties to settle the disputes without inciting violence.

The woman MP Judith Franka Akello, condemned deaths over land disputes. She pledged to move to the villages to sensitise residents against using violence to solve land disputes.
