UNKNOWN assailants on Wednesday night beheaded a 14-year-old boy in Kizirahete village, Nyankwanzi sub-county, Kyenjojo district

UNKNOWN assailants on Wednesday night beheaded a 14-year-old boy in Kizirahete village, Nyankwanzi sub-county, Kyenjojo district, reports Ismael Kasooha.

The deceased was identified as Naboth Kamanyire, a pupil at Kyamutunzi Primary School and son to Benon Sunday, a businessman.

Sunday was not at home at the time of the murder and was reported to have been at his second home a distance away.

Residents said the incident took place between 10:00pm and 11:00pm, but they could not rush to the scene because they feared for their safety.

Pastor Eliasafu Kabazamu, a resident, said these assailants could have come to kill Sunday, but since he was not at home, they instead killed his son for fear that he could identify them.

Kabazamu alleged that the assailants could have had a grudge against Sunday and son was just a victim of circumstances.

The murder happened near the scene where five people were in December 2009 murdered by a man, who is still at large.

The Kyenjojo district Police Commander, George Sabiti, said he had dispatched a team to the scene of the murder. He said the motive of the killers had not yet been established.

“We are investigating the incident and I’m sure the culprits shall be brought to book and answer murder charges,” Sabiti said.

The assailants used a panga to behead the 14-year-old boy.
