AS many businesses expand and grow, mordern office equipment is required. That is where Express Automation Uganda comes in. The company leases office equipment and furniture instead of selling.

Prabhu Kumar, the operations manager of the company says with nearly two decades of hands-on experience in the regional market, exclusive links to the world’s leading office and communications manufacturers, and the best technical minds in the business, they have the means to keep office owners in touch-with the world.

Located on Crown House on Jinja Road, the company’s show room has already established itself as a one stop centre where customers can lease home- office designed equipment at affordable prices.

Kumar says instead of companies losing capital in purchasing equipment that may not be tailored to meet the needs of the company or even fully utilised, companies should instead adopt leasing as the better option in business.

With equipment leasing, a company is allowed to produce a better operating performance, because the company pays only for the actual usage of the machine acquired.

With a very well equipped service centre and a highly trained team of technicians, Sulaiman Malik, the service manager, says the company offers excellent services in line with the manufacturer-set standards.

There is a GPRS feature on all the leased products which sends the info of the device like paper jams, toner refill time and other errors.

“The fact that the equipment remains our property makes us act faster in case of any problems,” he adds.

Leasing benefits business entities which are heavy paper users with a fixed location. In that regard, one man’s business enterprise may not qualify for the services, says Dennis Ssekamaanya, the IT coordinator of the company.

Business with several branches can be relieved of the burden of buying office equipment which is sometimes subjective to depreciation.

The head of sales and marketing, Elizabeth Nakaye says the company handles clients with different needs.

“We have clients who are bulk users like banks, big multi-branch business enterprises and at times small users of home- office equipment,” she remarks.

Before any business negotiations are carried out, Express Automation carries out a survey to help establish the client’s actual equipment requirement, consumption levels and even advises them on how to reduce the printing and copying cost. Ultimately, the client ends up with well customised solution perfectly tailored to their needs. Despite such advantages, the company faces challenges like any other business entities.

“Ugandan’s are slow in accepting and embracing technological development given all the bureaucracy involved in decision making,” Nakaye says.

Many of the customers in the business are used to right purchasing as and think leasing is expensive, she adds.
