Otunnu named Hamza Sewankambo as chief of staff, Leonard Okello as special envoy for UPC abroad and Okello Lucima as party special envoy to the Uganda diaspora.

Suzan Ezaita was appointed assistant national women leader, David Baliraine as national workers’ leader, while Margaret Ateng-Otim and Gorreti Byaruhanga became co-ordinators of the women leadership council.

Moses Nuwagaba, who is the deputy party spokesman, and Sheikh Bakhit Cucu were made co-ordinators of the youth leadership council.

Emmanuel Ofumbi was appointed national mobilisation taskforce chairman, deputised by Mohammed Kazimbraine and David Pulkol, while Kasendwa Ddumba became chairman of the presidential elections commission. Ddumba’s deputy is Nelson Ofwono.

Zaberoi Byabagambe was made elections review board chairman, deputised by Yudeth Kabatembuzi. Dennis Okema and Sylvia Cheptoris are to sit on the Inter-Party Co-operation steering committee.

Otunnu said the posts of vice-president, youth council leader and women council leader would be filled soon.

Meanwhile, Otunnu has threatened legal action if the Police fail to produce the party press secretary, Robert Kanusu, in court.

Kanusu was arrested on Saturday after reportedly saying on a local radio station in Jinja that the Government was responsible for child sacrifice and cattle rustling in Karamoja.
