Dear Doctor, I nose bleed frequently and have small pimples around my nose. What can I do to stop nose bleeding? Blaza
Dear Blaza, THE skin tissue in the nose is very soft and so are the blood vessels. When you sneeze, it is possible that the pimples in the nose burst, rupturing the blood vessels, leading to a nose bleed.
Refrain from lying on the back because it will not stop the bleeding and blood may run down your throat.
Instead, one should sit in an upright position, put direct pressure on the nose by squeezing firmly right below the boney bridge, holding on for at least 10 minutes to stop the bleeding. Deficiency in Vitamin k can also cause regular nose bleeds.
Therefore, eat foods rich in Vitamin K or take dietary supplements. In case the bleeding goes on for more than 20 minutes, despite applying consistent pressure, see a doctor. I also advise you to seek treatment for the pimples to establish the cause.
