ENTEBBE Golf Club amateur Silver Opio beat the professionals at their trade to make the cut as 34 competitors counted their losses in the Kampala leg of the East African Golf Tour yesterday. The axe struck at the half-way mark of the four-day event.

As professionals were sent packing, Opio who entered the tournament just to qualify for the paid ranks made a strong showing. He now qualifies for the Uganda Professional Golfers Association regardless of his performance in the remaining rounds.
