What was your first job? Where and
when was it? And how much did you earn then?

MY first job was working at a church of Mormons called Latter-day Saints in 1996 after I completed university. I was earning $200 (about sh400,000) per month.

What is the most enduring memory of your first job?

One time, a carpenter that I had paid to make furniture for the church asked me to come and pick it. But I was shocked to find that he had not even finished one piece when I reached his workshop.

What did you learn from it that makes you a better boss?

I learnt that hard work and determination is the only way one can make it in life. I also learnt that when working for people, it is important to tell the truth.

Did the first job change your career path or perspective?

It did because all that I studied at Makerere University was totally the opposite. People just use general knowledge. That is why one can study industrial and fine art, but becomes successful in business than the one who graduated in business administration.
