THE Bank of Ireland, through Aid Link, has constructed a three-classroom block at Kyomunembe Seventh Day Adventist Church Primary School in Kagadi town, Kibaale district.

Emily Kugonza, the EMESCO development boss, a local non-governmental organisation operating in Kibaale, said before the building was put up, classes were conducted in grass-thatched structures with no desks.

Handing over the building to the parents, Kugonza said EMESCO would help in developing Kibaale’s education, health and agriculture sectors.

Commissioning the classrooms, the primary education state minister, Kamanda Bataringaya, said education is the key to the development of the country.

He made the remarks in a message delivered by the internal affairs state minister and Buyanja county MP, Matia Kasaija, at the handover ceremony on Friday.

Bataringaya said the Government initiated the universal primary and secondary education programmes in order to set a firm foundation to develop the country.

Kasaija echoed the President’s dissatisfaction with over reports that teachers extort money from parents in government-aided primary schools. He warned that such teachers would be arrested.
