THE performance of weightlifter Charles Ssekyaya has touched international weightlifting officials, who have promised to help him prepare for the 2012 Olympic games in London.

The success-story of the Africa youth champion and Africa Senior championship bronze medalist impressed international officials, who had an abrupt visit to the Athletes village training ground.

The officials were led by the international weightlifting body vice presidents Sam Cofta and Dragomir Cioroslan, who visited the centre together with the body’s technical team from the Colorado Springs.

“They were impressed and have advised us to apply. If he is successful in this, then he will be one of the best lifters come London 2012,” said an excited Salim Musoke after training here.
Musoke is Ssekyaya’s coach.
