THE husband of former Inspector General of Government Justice Faith Mwondha has died. Fred Mwondha, a veteran teacher, succumbed to multiple organ failure at Mengo Hospital in Kampala, where he had been admitted for two weeks.

The couple, who got married in 1977, has for several years lived in separate homes. They have six children, including five girls and one boy.

“I have tried to play my role in raising the children and looking after their father. I know people go on gossiping around, but I’m sure God knows everything I have done for the family and I will not regret whatever is happening. God is my only judge in life,” Mwondha said.

She was speaking at St. Andrews Church in Jinja town on Saturday during a requiem mass for her husband presided over by the retired bishop of Busoga diocese, Cyprian Bamwoze.

Mwondha, who looked composed, said her husband was a good man. “Though he was living in the village, he gave me all the support I needed.”

She said she and her late husband had been in contact, adding that she bought him a mobile telephone to keep in touch.
The judge disclosed that her husband was sometimes reluctant to call her.

Bamwoze warned against gossiping.
“Think wisely and make yourselves useful to the communities. Amplify every word you speak. It is our responsibility to make development,” he said.

Mwondha was yesterday buried at Naminangwe village in Bugiri district.
