Ugandans should forget their political, religious and ethnic differences and unite during the 2011 general elections, the Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has said.

Addressing residents of Lwampanga, Lwabiyata and Nabiswera sub-counties during his tour of Nakasongola district on Thursday, Bukenya said disunity would deny the people an opportunity to prosper.

He said Nakasongola is a potential area for development and pledged government support towards helping people start income-generating projects.

The Government, he said, would solve the water problem facing the district.
Bukenya commended the district leadership for its contribution towards the development of the education sector.

He urged parents to utilise the free primary and secondary education to send their children to school.

Former security minister Muruli Mukasa asked Bukenya to help Migyeera trading centre be upgraded to a town council.

The district chairman, James Wandira, urged government to increase teachers’ salaries, saying many had left the profession due to poor pay.
