Who is Maureen Kabasita
Gospel background
For years, Maureen Kabatsita was a choir member at Miracle Centre Cathedral, Rubaga. She left church music and started singing in the Imperial Hotel’s resident band, before she joined Tusker Project Fame, where she emerged one of the finalists. After Project Fame, she joined Fusion Band, where she is today.

Church Girl Gone secular
For someone whose background is religious, it was hard to sing secular music but she is now used. She was shy and reserved at first and could not dance. Today, she dances and communicate with her audience without fear. Is she still a Born Again Christian? Yeah! ‘I am still a born again Christian because I still regard Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal saviour ,” she says.

Getting into trouble for it
But being a Born Again Christian singing secular music does come with its own share of trials. “People always reproach me for singing to drunkards, but drunkness is not the only sin. Even in church, there are promiscuous Christians, but they still attend church services. Besides, these fans who attend our performance first attend church services before coming here.
