AT 19 years, the twin brothers from the legendary late Sadi Onito family can now put up a genuine contest in the Uganda Open which tees off at Kitante course today.

Emma Opio, already vice captain of the national team, makes a fourth attempt at the Uganda Open while his twin brother Grace Ocici is set for a third appearance.

Looking to rekindle family glory that saw their father win the tournament a record 12 times and their elder brother the late Charles Yokwe lift the title in 2003 and 2005, the Onito twins have a rich history to inspire them.

“I have played at a high level locally and internationally for four years. I am mature enough to face off with everybody else,” Opio said.

“I have to attack from the beginning. I will take risks where possible because I don’t play well when I am very cautious.

“I must confess I won’t play safe in this tournament so expect the best or worst from me.”

Surprisingly, chatty Ocici intends to take a cautious approach.
“I will aim to be in the top four during the opening round and hopefully attack on the final day,” Ocici remarked after a practice session that was halted by heavy rain yesterday.

“Emma (Opio) has been playing so well lately, he certainly has a better chance of winning but make no mistake to rule me out.”
