NRM, your big numbers might be a problem

I have been following the NRM primaries on the sidelines and I have come to the conclusion that NRM’s biggest challenge is its big numbers. NRM members are too many and too strong that there cannot be enough posts for all of them.

I have been following the NRM primaries on the sidelines and I have come to the conclusion that NRM’s biggest challenge is its big numbers. NRM members are too many and too strong that there cannot be enough posts for all of them.

That is why members have resorted to rigging, theft, bribery and using force to win the primaries.

With challenges emanating from a majority following, the NRM should not have used the adult suffrage method of voting for the flag-bearers.

When the NRM used the electoral colleges, choosing flag-bearers was somewhat easier. They resorted to adult suffrage because they wanted to reduce the number of party members who run as independents in the general elections.

However, this time round, they might end up having many of their members running as independents because many losers of the primary elections have refused to concede defeat.

However, I thank the NRM electoral commission for organising the primaries. The commission should not be blamed for the disorganisation that was caused by the contestants and their supporters.

The commission did their job of organising the elections, it is the members who messed them up with their fights. I also urge the other political parties to organise themselves and mobilise for support.

I appeal to our leaders in the NRM party to quickly mediate and resolve the hatred caused by the recent flag-bearer elections throughout the country.

I am not being pessimistic but if these differences are not ironed out, they may have a negative effect on our party in 2011 general elections. If someone is ready to pour another’s blood in the primaries, then this person can easily want to fail his rival by voting against his own party.
