Hijra Kawempe seals Idd Cup

A goal in each half by Saad Kibirango and Sula Sebbunza respectively assured Hijra Kawempe team lifting the second edition of Idd Cup when they beat Jamia Kyebando 2-0 at Nakivubo.

The tournament was organised by the Islamic community and it attracted 56 teams from different mosques in Kampala and suburbs.
Defending champions Masjid Noor finished third beating Jamia Kibuli 4-3 in spot kicks.

Prince Khalifani Kakungulu handed over the trophy to the victors congratulating the organisers for sticking to the dressing code of Islam.

Mbale Tigers’ coach boosted with skills

Mbale Tigers table tennis coach Jude Mutete will have an opportunity to expand his management skills after being invited for a fully funded training programme with Swedish based Norttul Sports Club.

“It is an opportunity for me to get new ideas,” said Mutete, who has been behind the development of table tennis talent at Mbale Tigers.

Cyclist Matovu in Holland for preps

In order to brace for the Commonwealth Games that are due next month, cyclist David Matovu is in Netherlands to get tips from international cycling coaches.

Matovu, a member of the Kampala cycling team and is one of the five male cyclists that are set to represent the country.

He has joined World of Sport Executive Directors under the tutorage of renowned cycling coach Jacque Koster.
