IBO world featherweight champion Jackson “Action” Asiku says Jhonny Gonzalez will be his stepping stone to bigger fights in the 57 kilogram division.

Asiku who takes on the Mexican tonight at the Las Vegas Hilton has promised his fans a knock-out in the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) fight tonight.

“When the experts and the American boxing fans see me KO Gonzalez they will want to see me take on Gamboa and Rojas,” the Australia based Ugandan boxer said on arrival in Las Vegas.

Yuriokos Gamboa holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles. Jose Rojas is the other big name in the division.

“I bring an exciting, attacking style to the ring. I can beat all the big names in the division. Watch me destroy Gonzalez in my American debut…….Asiku is coming,” he told fight website boxing scene.com.”

Asiku knocked out another Mexican Heriberto Ruiz in November to become the fifth Ugandan to win a world boxing title. A defeat today will however make him the first Ugandan to fail defend his title.

Other Ugandan champions Ayub Kalule, Boza Edwards, John “The Beast” Mugabi and Kassim “The Dream” Ouma all won their first title defence contests.
