Where can I find lucerne seedlings?
EDITOR: I need help. I am a farmer starting out in poultry keeping and I need some help to find seeds or seedlings for lucerne (Tagasaste) fodder tree. Ialso need planting material for azolla (floating water fern) so that I can grow some for my chicken.

I am ready and willing to collect the seeds or seedlings of the above two plants from anywhere in central Uganda. Thank you for your assistance.

Here is some advice from a fellow farmer. Lucerne is very easy to get. However, you need to get the variety that is not susceptible to diseases and pests. Alternatively, you can grow Calliandra which serves more or less the same purpose as Lucerne. Seeds for both Lucerne and Calliandra can be got from the national tree seed centre and nursery at Kazinga near Namanve on Jinja Road.
The nursery, managed by the forestry department, has in stock a wide variety of tree seeds and seedlings. If they do not have the seeds you need in stock, they will at least advise you on where to get them. Hope this information will be of help. If you need more information, do not hastate to contact me.
