GLADIATOR is a word synonymous with a movie by the same name, which created a trend in history — bringing about new sandals called Gladiator sandals.

Fashion geeks have followed ancient Greek culture exposed in the movie. Ancient Greeks used to wear sandals which had a T-strap with multiple straps going across the foot. Gladiators were first fashioned by Alexander McQueen in 1996. Celebrities such as Kate Moss, Lucy Lui and Lindsay Lohan showed their love for these shoes.

Gladiator sandals are definitely the hottest shoe trend, or dare I say fashion essential for any style-conscious woman.

Not only are they trend setters, they are comfortable too. Gladiator shoes provide a rich design and an elegant outlook. There are many shades of gladiators available like the trendy metallic, but also the bright bold colours which are Knee-high, and the shoe boot gladiators.

The Lamb Sunny is one of the most desirable flat gladiator sandals available on the market. These gladiators have a long, comfortable foot rest and straps that cover the heel. These shoes come in black, brown and beige colours.

A nifty thing about these sandals is that they can be worn with almost everything; from maxi dresses to shorts, Capri, pants to jeans, and even skirts.

However, gladiator sandals, or strappy sandals, are also known to be the most tricky shoes to wear. If you are lucky to be tall or have slender legs, gladiator shoes will naturally suit you.

However, if you have thick calves/ankles, short legs or/are short in stature, they can be very unflattering.
Basically, ankle high gladiator shoes in a simple design will complement your outfit without drawing too much attention to your legs.

However, if you want to take it up a notch, choose a mid-calf or knee-high pair. Ankle-high looks good on almost any shape because the more leg you show the longer they will appear.
Ankle-highs will also complement tiny ankles/legs.

However, if you have thick ankles, go for t-straps and/or some heel to create a long and lean vertical line. Your legs will look great!

Trust me, mid-calf only looks good on slender legs. It will only make your legs look stubbier if they are short or thick.
Knee-high can make your legs look longer but make sure you choose straps that suit the proportions of your legs.

For the ultimate look, choose a style with a solid strip of leather that bisects the foot in the centre. You want a vertical line on your frame to create a long and lean silhouette.

No matter the length, heels on gladiator sandals will balance it out. They look sexy too!

You might want to secure a couple of gladiator sandals in neutral colours like black, brown, beige/white because they will go with just about anything.

If you want more of a statement-thing, choose eye popping colours like purple, red, gold or silver.

Shiny materials like patent and light colours can add pounds to your legs, whereas solid dark colours have a more slimming effect.

Gladiator sandals blend in with most pants-outfits. For a sophisticated yet chic office outfit, choose a pair with heels. For a casual look, roll up the pants a little and show off your shoes.

How to look fabulous in Gladiator Sandals
The wrong height can chop up your legs and make them and your whole figure stubby. Ankle tall sandals look universally good on anyone; mid-calf looking best on really lean and long legs

Pick the right details that harmonise with the shape, length and width of your legs. Super thick straps on dainty legs make them look awfully fragile.

Secure the basic colours first before going for anything multi-coloured or flashy. Black, brown and white look good with anything.
