FORUM for Democratic Change (FDC) has elected a woman to contest for the Kayunga district chairperson in the coming general elections.

Sarah Nambi, a teacher, was voted during the party primaries at Hotel Katikomu in Kayunga district on Saturday. Nambi got 36 votes, beating Sadic Sserugo who got 18.

Nambi accused the ruling NRM of dividing people in the district. “Kayunga has a mixture of people from different tribes and this needs a good leader who will treat people equally.”

She will be the first woman to contest for the seat. Nambi will tussle it out with Eng. Stephen Dagada, the NRM’s flag-bearer and also the former district chairman, and William Muyanja, an independent candidate.

Other flag-bearers are to be elected on September 30, according to the party.
