SEED five Duncan Mugabe and seed one Matwe Middlekoop, where ejected in the first round of the Uganda F1 Futures yesterday as the seeded players started their action at Lugogo tennis center.

Mugabe, who was playing on court one failed to halt his winless streak in the East Africa ITF/Futures tennis circuit losing to Nigerian qualifier Clifford Enosoregbe 6-2 4-6 7-6(4).

The 19 year old West African player powered himself by taking the first set 6-2 breaking the Ugandan twice in the set, but Mugabe responded positively by taking the next set 6-4 and breaking him for the first time.

Enosoregbe was not moved by the cheering crowd and broke to take a 1-0 game lead and never looked back.

Mugabe squandered a winner when he sent it out at 6-6.

“I played well, but lost key points and gave away too much when it mattered most,” Mugabe said after his defeat.
