A heavy hailstorm hit five villages in Kihangara sub-county, Ibanda district on Friday, destroying crops and property.Over 400 families in Kajwamushana villages were affected.
The LC3 chairman, John Magezi, said the crops destroyed include bananas, millet, beans, cassava and coffee.
Magezi said he reported the matter to the district authorities and urged the Government to come to their rescue.
Fred Kabyezira, a resident, said he was worried of raising school fees for his children since coffee and matooke, his only source of income, were no more.
Francis Kariyo, the chairman of Kajwamushana III village, said they experience the problem every year.
The district chairman, Melichiadis Kazwengye, pledged to lobby for relief food and seeds from the Government to help the affected families.
