A 12-year-old Ugandan boy was struck dead by a New Jersey Transit train in the US on Tuesday. Caesar Wako Muloki was the last born of Harriet Kikome and Henry Muloki. He was in Eighth Grade and lived in Hackensack, New Jersey.

The boy was reportedly near Railroad Avenue and Clay Street in Hackensack, New Jersey when the train struck him, officials said.

Witnesses said the boy was walking along Railroad Avenue and was wearing headphones when the accident occurred.

As the train approached from behind him, the driver blew the horn repeatedly but Muloki apparently did not hear. A car coming through Railroad Avenue swerved into the boy’s path, forcing him to jump closer to the tracks, officials said.

Catherine Ruhweza, an auntie to the deceased, said arrangements to return the body to Uganda for burial were underway.
