A PAKISTANI and his Ugandan workmate who were accused of taking part in the July 11 bomb blasts in Kampala have been released, reports Charles Ariko.

Naufal Zamir Sheikh and Peter Ntale Dithan were freed by Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate Deo Sejjemba. They had been accused of terrorism and causing the death of 79 people and were also facing charges of attempted murder.

The two were running a computer firm, Tech Access Africa Ltd in Bukoto prior to their arrest on July 16. “Thank you,” was all Naufal could mutter, as Ntale, who has been in and out of hospital, looked on.

Senior principal attorney Joan Kagezi informed court that she had instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to withdraw the charges but not give reasons for the withdrawal.

Two other suspects, Al Amin alias Joe Kimathi, 49, a Kenyan human rights activist and Omar Awadh, 37, who were last week charged with the same offences, also appeared in court.
