THE MP for Bukoto East in Masaka district, Alintuma Nsambu, surprised residents on Saturday when he arrived at a function for elderly people in a helicopter.

Over 300 elderly people from Kitovu Mobile Home Care Project had gathered at Mazinga village in Buwunga sub-county during a ceremony to mark the closure of their three-year support programme.

Under the project, 386 elderly people in Buwunga sub-county receive medical care, food and bedding, among others.

Nsambu who is also the ICT state minister, has on three occasions in one month visited the area using a helicopter.

“I have to be in Kampala within 30 minutes. I have some important assignments given by the President,” he said.

Nsambu, who has been nicknamed Mr. Chopper in his constituency, made an offer of sh6m to the elderly to access the health insurance scheme for 2011. The health insurance scheme for the elderly in Buwunga, sponsored by Kitovu Mobile Home Care, expires in December.

Nsambu also offered free transport to all the elderly people to receive the President, who visits Nkunke village tomorrow.
