LANGO College head teacher Alfred Okello has appealed to the rugby body to give special consideration to the northern region for the development of the sport.

“URU should have a special package for northern schools for the development of the sport,” Okello stated.

“We have the will and talent but lack both the technical and financial resources,” Okello explained, commending his Comboni College counterpart for the support.

Okello made the appeal at Lugogo after Coca Cola made a sh86.5m sponsorship pledge to the schools Independence Cup in Jinja this Saturday.

The package includes sh14.5m cash and kits to the top 16 sixteen playing schools in the country, eight scrum machines, 200 balls, 1000 training cones and eight sets of goal posts and post pads.

Fred Kyaka, on behalf of the organises, expressed their commitment to sports development in schools.

“The schools body has overwhelmed us with the growth of the sport and I am confident that next year will be bigger,” he stressed.
