JUST as your face needs moisturiser to keep the wrinkles at bay, and your body needs lotion to keep the skin supple, your hands and feet need a little pampering to feel silky.
Bella Atim, a beautician says soft hands and feet are, undoubtedly, a mark of beauty.
“However, in a world where everyone has to use their hands to work hard, hands are often taken for granted and end up becoming rough and calloused,†she says.
“When your hands start cracking, or the skin on your feet starts to flake, your body is telling you something,†she adds. “It’s probably telling you that you are neglecting your skin. If this is happening, keep in mind that action has to be taken urgently,†says Atim.
Florence Williams, a beautician at Beauty Tips, says flaky hands and feet are also unsightly.
“Smoothness should be synonymous with a woman or else she loses her sexy look,â€adds Ndiwalana.
According to Ndiwalana, there are simple home remedies that every woman can prepare to give her smooth and sexy hands and feet.
Tip for smooth hands Gertrude Komujuni, a beautician, but try not to wash your hands too often. It takes out all the natural oil making them dry.
“Instead of regular lotion, find hand cream, preferably those that have apricot to make your hands soft,†she says. “Try more natural kinds than ones that just smell nice, but any brand should do fine,†she cautions.
Komujuni advises that if your hands are very dry, put on plastic or rubber gloves lined with Vaseline and put them on your hands (use rubber-bands to keep them closed on your wrists but do not cut off your circulation) and sleep overnight with them on.
Smooth hands are easy to get if you just follow these old fashion remedies.
First of all, wash you hands with ice cold water to get blood pumping to your hands. Use a herbal soap to wash your hands for five minutes.
Rub a hot scented oil over your hands and let it sit for 10 minutes while you watch your favourite TV show.
Wash off the oil completely and apply a generous amount of Vaseline to you hands. Put some old socks over your hands, and sleep with the socks and Vaseline on your hands. For extra smooth hands, wear the socks five hours before or after bed.
Wash off the Vaseline and rub your hands with preferably Aveeno or coco butter lotion.
Repeat these steps once a week.
Home remedy This is an old technique that women used to use in the older days. It is effective and so inexpensive since the ingredients are right there in your kitchen.
Instructions Ingredients: Olive oil or Baby oil Brown or white sugar granules
For hands or feet: Put two tablespoons of sugar in one hand. Then pour one tablespoon of baby or olive oil in that same hand. If you need more oil, use your own judgment.
Gently massage and rub for two minutes. (Same thing with feet massage and rub for two minutes or longer if you have callouses or rough feet)
After continuously rubbing and massaging, gently wash your hands or feet in warm water.
Pat dry and notice the difference in your skin! It should be soft and smooth and will remain that way for days. Repeat this process at least once every two weeks.
The end results are breathtaking. Your hands and feet will be absolutely as smooth as a baby’s.
