MITYANA district leaders have expressed concern over the poor management of the newly-created sub-counties in the district.

This financial year, three sub-counties were created and authorised to operate. They are Namungo, which was curved out of Ssekanyonyi, Kalangaalo from Bulera and Banda from Maanyi sub-county.

“Interim committees were elected but the electoral commission has never set any date to hold elections for the new leadership of these parishes. This means the sub-counties do not have any councils and no resolution can be passed. The problem has greatly affected the communities there, as the former sub-counties from which they were created, are no longer concerned about the new ones,” said Joseph Musoke, the LC5 chairperson.

He was speaking at the Independence Day celebrations at Namungo Church of Uganda Primary School in Namungo sub-county.
