SPORTS Club Villa could find themselves in more trouble after reports that some of its players and fans attacked a match official at the end of their Uganda Super League match against Victors FC on Tuesday.

Villa was leading the game 1-0 following a first half strike by Emmanuel Kalyowa but a 90th minute equaliser by Yuda Mugalu prevented the Jogoos from reaping all the three points from Kakindu stadium.

The Villa following protested the goal and Military Police had to intervene after a Villa player Elias Sekisambu attacked referee Peter Kutegana and fans joined in.

The Uganda Super League board is probing the incident.

“The board’s disciplinary committee should have a decision by next week. Culprits will definitely be punished. There is zero tolerance for violence,” stressed board secretary Mujib Kasule.

Kasule said the match agent’s report would be studied together with the referee’s report and a video recording of the match to form the basis of the disciplinary committee’s decision.

It’s barely a month since the league’s management cracked the whip on Villa. The club was forced to play one home match behind closed doors and pay a sh2m fine as a punishment for violence in an earlier game. Villa fans, infuriated by an extra time goal by URA, beat up the taxmen’s assistant coach Ibrahim Kirya.

Kirya was also slapped with a three-match ban and a sh500000 fine.

If Villa is again found guilty they will be fined sh3m on top of playing two matches without fans.

Meanwhile, Kakungulu Cup holders Victors will propose Bugembe stadium to host their Confederations Cup home games.

Club official Lawrence Kato will lead a team to inspect the suitability of Bugembe before writing to African governing body CAF. Their opening game is on February 17.
