MARK Namanya has offered to consolidate the gains of the Uganda Sports Press Association if elected at Kampala City Council hall today.

Namanya of the Monitor and Leone Ssenynge of NTV are expected to be front runners in the race to replace out-going USPA president Douglas Mazune.

Four candidates are vying for the top chair including veteran Charles Sebugwawo and Richard Lukwago of Record TV.

Namanya who has been serving under Mazune for the past four years has promised to carry on with the projects on the USPA table. “At the end of the day, it’s my desire for USPA to emerge stronger with a rich history,” said Namanya who promised to work with everybody including his opponents if elected.

“For me, it’s about team work. Likewise, if I lose I will still remain a committed member for the good of the association,” he added.

On his part, Ssenyange said the election will be a key defining moment for the good USPA. “Today’s election defines the future of USPA,” Ssenyange who boasted of a good run said yesterday.

The assembly starts at 9am to give members ample time to resume work. Mazune will step down after serving for four years.

The race for the post of secretary and organizing secretary has The New Vision’s Swalley Kenyi and Johnson Were respectively.
