RUGBY Cranes captain Mathias Ochwo has shaken off a knee injury he picked up at the Commonwealth Games and will be a key addition to the Heathens squad in today’s Uganda Cup semi-final against Pirates at Kyadondo.

Champions Heathens will assemble a formidable squad following the return of Ochwo and teammates Robert Seguya, Michael Wokorach, Scot Oluoch and Jude Keremundu who were also on national duty in India.

Heathens captain Alex Mubiru was elated to have a full squad at Thursday’s training session and is optimistic the Kyadondo side will retain the title.

“We know the task before us and we are focused. Pirates have made some signings but we are not bothered. We had to tap into our reserve team last week but now that everybody is around, we are in a position to get to the final,” Mubiru stated.

Coach Brian Tabaruka, who played in the quarterfinal against Buffaloes last week will return to the bench with his assistant Roger Sebina.

Pirates, whose squad was boosted with new signings Marlon Ondyeke (fullback), Hillary Juma (Fly-half), Rodney Turyatemba (No.8), Mpuuga ‘Wiggy’ Rugumayo (Fly-half/fullback) and prop Simon Bakulumpagi should prove a formidable side.

The other semi-finals will have Kobs up against Entebbe Mongers, who have usually put up decent displays at Kampala Club.

Kobs, who whipped Nile 103-4 last weekend will have to work harder to upstage a more resilient Mongers’ side.
