“We have today appeared before the Electoral Commission which we did not believe in. We will only accept the results of the general elections on condition that they are fair,” FDC/IPC candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye during his first elections campaign rally at Nakivubo.

“There is no bad blood between me and Museveni. It is the principles that are my concern. That is why we disagreed and fell out,” PPP presidential candidate Jaberi Bidandi Ssali during his inaugural campaign rally.

“I am not the northern Uganda presidential candidate. I am the Democratic Party (DP) candidate for the presidency. Why are you not talking about votes from the west? My mother comes from Isingiro district. Why are you not saying the votes will be split with Museveni?” Norbert Mao, when asked whether he and UPC candidate Olara Otunnu will not split the northern vote.

“They say Museveni agende. Why should he go and you remain? What have you achieved to qualify to replace him? Uganda had problems of murderers and dictators, why didn't you solve them? The Museveni you tell to go led those who liberated Uganda from these problems,” President Yoweri Museveni, addressing a rally at Kololo Airstrip after his nomination as a presidential candidate for next year's elections.

“I am not just a woman candidate but the maternal instinct of caring for other people makes me an equal candidate,” Uganda Federal Alliance presidential candidate Beti Kamya, during her inaugural campaign speech.

“The Baganda say, ensi egula mirambo (a nation is liberated through bloodshed). If that is the case, why do you gamble with politics? You elect Ken Lukyamuzi who talks about conserving butterflies. If he likes them so much, why doesn't he rear them? President Yoweri Museveni at Kololo Airstrip after his nomination.

“We have a solution for the Kiboko Squad. I will hit anyone who puts his hands on me,” DP President Norbert Mao during his inaugural speech.

“I think you tell anger or lack of compromise from actions; and not from looks. And all the actions so far would show that the anger is within Government. I am the wronged party,” FDC/IPC presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye.
