The Police in Soroti district have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly killing his daughter. The mid-eastern regional Police spokesperson, Juma Hassan Nyene, identified the suspect as David Opado Emaru, a resident of Obwolo village in Kamuda sub-county.

The mid-eastern regional Police spokesperson, Juma Hassan Nyene, identified the suspect as David Opado Emaru, a resident of Obwolo village in Kamuda sub-county. Nyene said Opado allegedly beat his 13-year-old daughter, Imelda Asayo, a pupil of Olwelai Primary School, to death with a pestle on Friday. He said Opado reportedly beat the girl when he found out she was having an affair. Opado will face murder charges.

UK students aid Jinja schools
Students from Leighton Park School in the UK have donated scholastic materials worth sh25m to two orphanages and three primary schools in Jinja district. The items that included text and exercise books, pens, pencils, blankets and footballs, were bought using funds raised by 16 students from the school. The beneficiaries included Lake Site Primary School, YMCA Nursery and Mama Jane Children’s home.
