SYLVIA Namutebi alias Maama Fina is one person whose love for President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is outstanding.
When it comes to backing NRM, Namutebi does it wholeheartedly in a similar way Americans support their political parties during campaigns when they raise funds for them.
In the last five years, she has given over 20 motorcycles on an easy loan scheme to the youth in Kampala to help them fight poverty.
She has also given millions of shillings to the women and the youth through SACCOs, something that has lured many of them to the ruling party
Namutebi, 34, believes that if you love a political party, you give it part of what you have. She has also helped party leaders and supporters in relation to her job.
Namutebi is the leader of the traditional healers in Uganda. As the top leader of the healers, she has spearheaded the fight against fake traditional healers who are involved in human sacrifice.
Namutebi’s relationship with NRM dates back to the mid 1990’s when she met President Yoweri Museveni one on one at State House, Nakasero.
Before that, she had been a regular caller on radio talk shows, where she displayed unshakable support for NRM.
Namutebi was invited to State House by President Museveni after realising that she was a good mobiliser and the two have been good friends since then.
Her family suffered during the NRM bush war and because of the rough kind of experience she went through as a young girl, she supports NRM with her whole heart.
