PREMIER strolled to the second round of the Mawanda Cup without even making a toss, but Nile and Tornado B were victims in the 30-over format opening games on Saturday, losing to plate league sides Charity and Tamil Lions respectively.

Premier stayed on course for their third trophy this season after their opponents KICC failed to honour their encounter at Kyambogo.

Premier have already won the Luswata Cup and The Easter Twenty 20 tournaments and is in line of winning the Premier league.

“They (KICC) never turned up and the rules are clear,” explained Martin Ondeko, the Uganda Cricket Association administrative officer. But it was not good day for Tornado B, who despite their player Fred Isabirye registering an unbeaten 74 were beaten by second division side Charity, as they were limited to 119 in their chase for a 210 run target. Charity’s Arnold Otwan registered an unbeaten 60 runs and Henry Muyanja 36 as they set the target.

At Entebbe, Nile’s Martin Ondeko was run out at only 12 as his team lost to second division side Tamil Lions.
