A teacher has been elected as the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag-bearer to contest for the Woman MP seat for Butaleja district.

Suzan Baluka, a teacher at Bugwere college, was elected unopposed after her would-be contender, Hadija Nanyonga, arrived late for nominations.

Baluka will tussle it out with NRM’s Celinah Nebandah.

Addressing supporters at the district party headquarters, Baluka said the chaos within the ruling NRM party was likely to give her victory.

She urged party supporters to unite to ensure that all FDC candidates win in the district.

Peter Mwangale was also unopposed to stand for the Bunyole West MP seat, while Tito Guloba was elected for the LC5 chairmanship.

Mwangale will face NRM flag-bearer Jacob Wangolo, and Guloba will race against the incumbent, Richard Waya, and an independent candidate, Wawuye Naddala.

Tony Wewayo beat Fredrick Obale to stand for the Butaleja LC3 seat.
