Whenever I am travelling to Bududa, I notice the trees are cut down in three unique styles. First the branches are cut off, then the roots are dug up and finally the trunk is felled.

The wood is then ostensibly used to burn bricks, for firewood and in some cases they make charcoal from it.

These are very mature and valuable mvule trees! Knowing what role trees play in the environment, without doubt we are going to suffer the consequences when all the trees are gone.

I appeal to the relevant authorities in the district, especially the Police, to interest themselves in what is happening in the area. I cannot appeal to the politicians at this time because I know the 'power of the vote' counts more than anything else and no politician can dare raise a finger!

The Police should begin by interrogating those supposed to take care of the environment in the district.
