THE Bamasaaba cultural leader, Umukuuka Wilson Weasa Wamimbi, will be installed this weekend. Local sources said dignitaries invited for the ceremony, which will take place at the Bumutoto Cultural Centre on the south-eastern outskirts of Mbale, include President Yoweri Museveni.
Wamimbi, formerly a high commissioner to Canada, was elected in July by delegates representing 26 Bamasaaba clans from Uganda and Kenya. He is to serve for a non-renewable term of five years.
Bungoma county culture officer Florence Lukosi told New Vision yesterday that a delegation comprising about 500 people, including MPs, was expected from Kenya.
