Damuri says the expedition is expected to promote environmentally friendly tourism, adventure, as well as, put East Africa in the world spotlight.

To be monitored by the International press, the expedition is sponsored by the Confederation of African Canoeing, Tourism Uganda, the Embassy of Italy in Uganda, Kisumu Yatch Club and other organisations.

Among the special guests at the flagging off ceremony, will be Kenyan actress Mary Oyaya, who played the role of interpreter Jedi Master Luminara Undulialso in the Hollywood movie Star Wars.
