Dear Doctor
For two weeks, I have been feeling very hungry, but I lose appetite immediately I start to eat. I am so weak that sometimes I get a stroke. What could be the problem?

PERSISTENT loss of appetite may be an indication of a serious physical or mental illness. The causes of appetite loss may be temporary or long lasting and a symptom of an underlying medical condition.

Viral infections and treatments for chronic diseases can also spur loss of appetite. Eating in groups might help. A stroke happens when there is a rapid development of loss of brain function due to disturbance in the blood supply.

This can be due to increased blood pressure. As a result, the affected area of the brain is unable to function, leading to inability to move one or more limbs, understand or formulate speech. See a doctor for diagnosis.
